I want to write this review last week, but my internet connection was really bad.
I enjoyed AI's Beatles' week although their song's choice was quite suck.
Now, let's get to the show:
Kree Harrison: Singing "Little Help From My Friends," the Nashville singer turned in a countrified performance that showcase her crystal-clear voice. I was not crazy about six or seven background singers that joined her on stage, but she belted it out. Nicki Minaj said she is glad Kree is starting to believe in herself. I agree. A top contender.
Burnell Taylor: What? He's never heard "Let It Be" -- are kids not growing up with the classics? He recovers nicely and turns in a respectable performance. The judges rave; he's just glad he remembered the lyrics.
Amber Holcomb: Mentor Jimmy Iovine says Amber murders "She's Leaving Home," which means there is no way she is leaving "Idol" this week. The song starts slow as she walks through fog and past the violinists. But in the end it's all good. The judges love her; Nicki gives her some feedback on her lipstick. That Nicki.
Lazaro Arbos: The feel-good story of this season turned into a tear-jerker; the judges are not kind, and the singer who -- until the last couple of weeks had been a star -- is starting to fade. He sings "In My Life," and everyone is critical of everything from the key to the advice of mentor Jimmy Iovine. He is visibly upset; host Ryan Seacrest tells him to wipe away his tears.
Candice Glover: She belts out "Come Together"; it seems forced to me. The crowd loves it, and so do the judges.
Paul Jolley: He tends to be a bit theatrical, but he has a great voice, and the female voters will jump on his bandwagon. He sings "Eleanor Rigby (All the Lonely People)." Nicki calls it "bland" and "forgetable." Ouch. Randy says it is disconnected. Mariah and Keith are a little nicer want him to delve into the pop world.
Angie Miller: She was a Top 3 performer last week with Kree and Candice; if you had any doubts, she showed off her vocal range on the Beatles' "Yesterday" and should remain in the Top 3 again this week.
Devin Velez: He's my underdog because he has an incredible voice, and he's a guy. Even though the girls are far superior this season, we all know it's difficult for a female singer to win. Devin sings a nearly flawless "Long and Winding Road." The judges, overall, agree. Nicki is the new Steven Tyler, hoping to get bleeped by Fox.
Janelle Arthur: I recap "American Idol" on the "Gravy in the Morning" radio show, and my friends Gravy and Rachael Gray made their predictions last week when I was out of town. Gravy is pulling for Kree. Rachael is going with Angie Miller. Since I'm the last one to pick, I'll go with Janelle. She is sweet, and authentically country. Judge Randy Jackson said her version of the Beatles "I Will" was one of the best performances of the night.
And the result was goodbye...Jolley, the judges didn't save him. (good job dude..save it for the girls..)
